Organise more beneficial community programs for rural folk – Musa

SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman has encouraged relevant parties, especially government linked companies (GLCs) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to organise more beneficial community programs in the rural areas.

“Community programs able to instill the spirit of unity regardless of race and religion, thus strengthening relationships between the organiser and residents.

“Through these community programs, various activities could be held such as exhibition and sport. As for exhibition, residents in rural areas may learn something on what the exhibitors put up for display,” he said after officiating at the “Semarak Kasih Jiran Sekampung” at Kampung Pangkalan Sungai Manila, here yesterday.

The two-day program which was jointly organised by Yayasan Sabah, Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat Sungai Sibuga, Umno Libaran Education Bureau and SandakanFM RTM was to enliven the various activities such as sporting event, futsal, cooking with residents, singing contest and children’s activities.

Also present were Yayasan Sabah director Datuk Sapawi Ahmad, Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris, Libaran member of parliament Datuk Juslie Ajirol and RTM Sandakan manager Anissah Md Yunos.

Earlier, Musa advised the young generation, especially in this district, to strive for success in their education.

The education hub of Sungai Batang here proved that tertiary education was important where fresh secondary school leavers might further their studies here, he said.

Sapawi said his speech that Yayasan Sabah will continue to collaborate with various agencies whether be it government, private and NGOs in organising various programmes which provide benefits to the people.
