A budget for people, says KKCCCI

KOTA KINABALU: The state’s Budget 2016 tabled by Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman is a budget for the rakyat as it meets the people’s needs and wishes, said Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) president Datuk Michael Lui.

Lui welcomed the theme ‘Prudent Budget, the People at Heart’ for the budget as it emphasized consolidating our state’s resources and effective management.

He also commended Musa for his prudent financial management for the state to enjoy a surplus of RM29.9 million in the RM 3.49 billion budget.

Lui said the state’s economic growth was projected at 4.5 to five per cent, which was lower than the five to six per cent this year in the wake of the current economic slowdown.

However, he said to achieve a surplus budget during this challenging times was not easy and it showed the Chief Minister’s prudence in managing the state’s finances.

Lui also welcomed the RM1,148,890,000 for development expenditure in the 2016 budget which showed that the state government did not neglect the development of basic infrastructure and important sectors.

“This shows that the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman puts the people first and is committed to fulfilling its promises.”

Lui further urged Sabahans to stand alongside and support the state government when our country is facing tough economic times to accelerate development in Sabah, and work together for the well-being of the people and prosperity of the state.
